about medicare rebates

Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients. Upon visiting your doctor or GP, they will make an assessment about whether you are eligible and may refer you to a Clinical Psychologist. Eligible clients are entitled up to 10 individual sessions with a Clinical Psychologist per calendar year.

Medicare rebates are processed electronically at Fulham Consulting at the end of your consultation.  For individual sessions, the Medicare Rebate for a session with a Clinical Psychologist is $1.

You don’t need a referral from a GP or Doctor to see a Clinical Psychologist at Fulham Consulting. However, a referral is needed for you to be able to claim Medicare rebates.

The Medicare program covers most commonly presenting psychological conditions, such as:

  • Adjustment disorders

  • Alcohol use disorders

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Attention deficit disorder

  • Bereavement disorders

  • Bipolar disorder

  • Co-occurring anxiety and depression

  • Conduct disorders

  • Depression

  • Drug use disorders

  • Eating disorders

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Panic disorder

  • Phobic disorders

  • Psychotic disorders

  • Schizophrenia

  • Sexual disorders

  • Sleep problems.

Make an appointment to talk to your GP to find out whether you are eligible.

private health insurance rebates

If you have private health insurance you may be eligible to claim rebates for individual and group psychological sessions depending on your ‘extras’ cover plan.  We recommend that you check with your insurer about rebate amounts.  We can not process your private health rebates electronically at the practice so you need to send the session receipt paid in full to your provider.
